HAVE YOU TRAINED YOUR STAFF ENOUGH TO TAKE A HOLIDAY

Most venues take great pride in training their staff to the highest standards when it comes to service but often forget to train the laws of responsible alcohol retail.

If a new bar person knows not to serve anyone under the age of 18 and can start at 6 on a Saturday they’ve normally got the job. Realistically we can’t expect every member of staff to have gone through a personal licence course but it is the duty of the DPS to make sure staff are trained to a reasonable standard and keep a record, after all the DPS is still responsible while on holiday, so keep yourself safe have all staff that are required to sell alcohol attend an ARAR course (Award for Responsible Alcohol retail) to learn about the licencing objectives, how to recognise disorderly behavior and much more.

The course is free in most areas and all attendees receive a certificate to say they’ve passed (no better way to keep a record of training).
